What city should I fly into?

Wynne is 60 minutes from the Memphis, Tennessee, airport and 90 minutes from the Little Rock, Arkansas airport. Price flights to both cities, because there is often a vast difference in fares to these two cities.

Is this the first time this marathon has been run?

No, the first Midsouth Marathon was in 1999.

How many runners will there be?

Last year there were 550 runners. This year we expect 600 runners.

This course was set up by a marathon runner for marathon runners. It's a peaceful course run at the perfect time of the year in the Delta.

If a masters runner is in the first three overall, does he also qualify for a prize as a masters runner?

This happened in the 2000 Marathon, and we treated the masters runner as listed first as an overall winner and did not receive the masters placement or money.

Do you have an an elevation chart?

Here are the vital elevation statistics:

Start/Finish: 270 feet
Lowest point: 230 feet
Highest point: 350 feet

So you see, not much range there between the high and low point on the course.

Is there a time limit on finishing the marathon and still receiving  a finishers medal?

Yes, the time limit is six hours (13:44 per mile pace).  We have an early start (7 am) for folks that need extra time, although there is no course support until 8 am.

How will the aid/water stations be spaced?

Water stations are one mile apart.

Will there will be port-a-johns or other bathroom facilities on the course?

Yes, there will be 13 port-a-johns, and since this is an out-and-back course, this means that these facilities will be available approximately every mile, but some considerations may change this spacing a bit.

What sport drink, if any, will be served at the aid stations on the course?

Gatorade.

What is the road surface?

Asphalt.

What sort of weather is typical for that time of year?

The weather is unpredictable. Typically, the start should be in the high 30s and the finish should be in the low to mid 50s. Go here for a current and five-day forecast.

The marathon is. Both courses are USATF certified courses, and any certified marathon course, is a qualifier for Boston.
